As I looked around the empty building, my eyes fell upon the scripture on the wall.
"Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever." Hebrews 13:8
Yes, I thought, everything else may be gone, but He is still here. Everything else may be changing, but He is not. When I walk out the door of this building He will be with me to guide, protect, provide. Yes, I can face an uncertain tomorrow because I know He is going to be there.
Just then the words to a familiar song Because He Lives by Gloria and Bill Gaither came to mind:
Because He lives I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives.
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives.
(Words: Gloria and William J. Gaither. Music: William J. Gaither)
Yes, it was going to be alright. He was allowing this door to shut, but surely He was at work opening another door someplace else. As I trusted Him yesterday, I will also do today and forever.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.
Psalm 23 ( NKJV )
